In this Year 2 lesson, which will cover 2 weeks of teaching, pupils will learn all about how they can maintain their hygiene and have care for others too. They will investigate germs, how they are spread by coughs, sneezes and skin contact and how germs don't like soap. There are also links to ICT and Art in the lesson.

3.9 Friction

It will take 2 lessons of teaching to complete this excellent lesson on Friction. Year 3's will be investigating how different materials produce different degrees of friction, and that friction between surfaces always produces heat. There are also some cross-curricular opportunities with Maths and ICT.

5.7 Acid & Bicarbonate

In this brilliant introduction to chemical reactions using acids, pupils will learn about the signs of chemical reactions and will be able to classify substances as either acids or alkalis. They will conduct experiments involving both liquid and solid acids and learn how to treat heartburn. To top the lesson off, they will investigate the ideal ratios of acid to bicarbonate of soda in order to safely make a sandwich bag explode!
